Majestic Wine has today announced the date and venue for their upcoming Summer Press event.
The tasting, which will focus on showcasing a number of key range reviews, will be held on the 7th May at the Royal Academy of Arts. The event is strictly drinks trade only – and an RSVP is required for access.
The event will seek to introduce a large number of new lines to the business. The Majestic Buying Team have been in a prolonged period of appraising the retailer’s range – following the news of the company’s sale to Fortress in December. Their key focus has been on ‘getting back to what we do best’
A number of key categories will be on taste following the process, including (but not limited to) :
– New Zealand- Australia- Rosé- North America- Burgundy- The Loire- Sparkling & Champagne- + More to be announced.
Recently, Chief Commercial Officer Rob Cooke, stated that the business would be refocusing its wine selection on recapturing Majestic’s reputation for leading market trends and stocking quality wines with a strong sense of provenance and reputation. He said:
“I am incredibly pleased with the early signs from our range reviews. The Buying Team have done a terrific job in getting back to the heart of what Majestic can, and should, do best. That means wines which are a bit special; the bottles which our store staff love selling, producers love creating and, we’re sure, customers will love discovering.”
Pressed on revealing further details of the new line ups, he added
“You’ll have to come to the press tasting or head into our stores to see the new direction! But what I can tell you is that we’re looking to really reinvigorate our range. We’re doubling down on successful new areas whilst getting back to our heartlands, increasing the breadth of certain categories and moving away from duplication for duplications sake. We want more wines with real stories behind them, that means bringing on board some true market leading producers, investing in new grapes or regions and really doubling down on things like Organics and upcoming trends we believe our customers will enjoy. Our Buyers are literally fighting for space because they want to show more and more. It’s a really, really exciting time for our shelves. “
Majestic added that the venue – The Royal Academy of Arts – had been chosen to reflect the desire for a serious, focused appraisal of their new range.
“This is our own masterpiece, and we really want the critics to put us back under the spotlight. The RAA was created to promote the creation, enjoyment and appreciation of the visual arts through exhibitions, education and debate. There’s no reason wine can’t be put through the same rigor” added Cooke.
