Hyderabad: It was a scene straight out of a movie, particularly of the flying cars kind. A speeding car, in an attempt to avoid hitting a cyclist, swerved and hit a political party’s flag-post that served as a launch and landed on top of a tin sheet-roofed shed at Gundlapalli stage of Ganneruvaram mandal on Monday morning. Four persons including the cyclist were injured in the bizzare accident that attracted the attention of hordes of people on the busy Rajiv Rahadari.
The four persons in the car, all residents of Karimnagar, were on their way to Hyderabad. Besides the cyclist Narsingh, three others – Bhushan, Swarupa and Vijaya – were injured in the incident. The police, who were given a helping hand by the locals, had a tough time to extricate the injured from the car. A crane had to be used in the rescue operation.
Police, who rushed to the spot, said the accident occured when a cyclist suddenly came in the way of the car at Gundlapalli. The driver, who tried to avoid hitting the cyclist, lost control over the wheel, and the sequence followed.
The injured were shifted to Apollo Reach Hospital in Karimangar town.
