Few childhood snacks bring about such nostalgia as good ol’ pigs in a blanket. Little Smokies cocktail wieners, buttery crescent roll dough and all the ketchup my 6-year-old self could desire.

It’s safe to say not many things have changed in the Kelly’s Snack Cravings department over the past 27 years…

Strips of puff pastry on wood cutting board

I find myself more in love with this quick-fix snack than ever. And now that I have two (!) little ones of my own, I am all about the creative but fuss-free snacks.

This elevated take on the traditional pigs in a blanket stars your choice of hot dogs tucked into puff pastry spirals. But the deliciousness doesn’t end there!

Hot dogs wrapped in puff pastry and sprinkled with everything seasoning

A quick eggwash and a hearty “everything” seasoning shower later, and your snack/gameday/party lineup just reached a whole new level. Keep it classic with ketchup for dipping, or go the extra gourmet mile with a range of mustards. And speaking of mustard … this same technique would be great on bratwurst. Simply wrap, brush, sprinkle and bake!

If you are using larger hot dogs, or even bratwurst, you can pinch together two strips of the puff pastry to ensure it reaches all the way around.
